Our funding
Where our money comes from:
- Almost 2/3 of Carr-Gomm’s income comes from local authorities for the support services we provide
- A third of the money we receive is rent from people living in Carr-Gomm supported housing
- The Housing Corporation gives grants for our housing projects and major repairs
- Carr-Gomm earns interest on money we save in the bank and rent from other organisations, which use properties we own.
- We receive legacies, donations and grants from individuals, companies and other organisations for our general work and specific schemes.
Where our money goes:
- Carr-Gomm spends most of its money (66%) on delivering support to people
- Our next largest costs are related to the properties we own (lettings) and include managing our housing services, rent losses and lease charges.
- Other costs are for running our additionally-funded projects and support to Carr-Gomm Scotland.
- Carr-Gomm spends £67,000 on raising extras funds for our work and £72,000 on helping clients in need
Investing in Efficiency
The Board has developed a 25-year financial plan following the Housing Corporation’s recommendation that we improve financial preparations for the future. Checking the condition of our houses to identify the investments needed for each property was part of this process. This plan shows that Carr-Gomm is clearly viable but we must do more now to meet our long-term financial requirements.
To increase efficiency, we are reducing running costs and investing in new IT systems. This will bring the benefits of technology to all schemes, improving information sharing and communication for staff and clients.
