Carr-Gomm – transforming care and support

How We Use Your Donations

Carr-Gomm receives funding from Supporting People and local authorities to run housing, care and support services. The fundraising team raise additional funds to enhance the lives of our clients care and doesn’t cover the ‘extras’ many of us take for granted. Such donations improve the quality of our work and enable us to offer clients extra opportunities for learning and personal development. They include structured activities like workshops on budgeting and nutrition.

Additionally, your donations are vital in helping clients to set up their own independent accommodation when they are ready to move-on from Carr-Gomm.

£50 will pay for the basic essentials to set up a flat for someone who usually has nothing. Your donations can help someone prepare for a new life when they resettle by paying for home goods such as a kettle and new bedding.

Examples of the projects we have been able to support with charitable funding include:

Resource Rooms

Equipping local Resource Rooms with computers, books, learning and art materials enables Carr-Gomm clients to learn IT skills, meet other clients, and use the rooms as a base for support groups and editorial meetings for local newsletter groups.

Art and Drama Workshops

Drama projects and art workshops help clients articulate their feelings and express themselves. These workshops also increase client's self-confidence in their ability to do new things and encourage creativity.

Client Website

A website for clients has been created at: http://cgtell.info/. This site enables clients to communicate with each other and show their creative work to other people. The main aim of the site, however, is to facilitate learning. A steering group made up of clients and staff has commissioned interactive online learning modules that help people develop life skills and basic skills.

All of these activities ultimately help our clients to live more independently. Please contact the Fundraising Team for more information on 020 7397 5307
