Carr-Gomm’s equality and diversity policy (95kB PDF document)
We launched our first diversity strategy in 2000. It was updated in 2003 and again in 2005. This year, a group of staff, clients and board members will be carrying out a Best Value review of diversity and equality in Carr-Gomm and the results of this review will inform the strategy.
Diversity strategy
The aim of our diversity strategy is to enable Carr-Gomm to provide valued services, employment and development opportunities for people from all backgrounds and to ensure that Carr-Gomm reflects the diversity of the communities that we work in.
The main aims of our diversity strategy are:
- Leadership: To ensure that diversity becomes part of the day-to-day culture.
- Consistency: To ensure that all customers and stakeholders have the same positive experiences.
- Communication: To ensure that all customers and stakeholders know our commitment and approach to diversity
- Evidence: To ensure that we can prove the application and benefits of our approach to diversity
- Partnerships: To ensure that we are having a positive influence on those around us
- Disability: To ensure an equally positive experience for our customers living with disability
What is diversity?
Diversity describes the differences (including those that are not visible) between individuals and groups, which include gender, age, background, disability, religion, sexuality and race. Carr-Gomm believe that harnessing these differences will create a place in which everyone feels valued and respected, where their talents are fully used and which benefits the whole organisation and the individuals within it.
